Marketing Kitchen How to supply Artwork

Artwork Submission Tips – Get It Right the First Time

File Format & Setup

Native Files Preferred – Always send working files when possible. We love InDesign.

Package Everything – In InDesign or Illustrator. Package all fonts and linked images. Use “Package” or “Collect for Output.”

Include Bleed & Crop Marks – Even if there’s no bleed, crop marks are a must.

Crop Marks = ¼ inch – Set them correctly to avoid trimming errors.

Send a PDF for Proofing – Always include a PDF so we can visually verify your intent.

Set Dielines as Spot PMS – They must be a named Pantone spot colour -preferably PMS magenta

Multi-Page Projects? – Send as single pages only (no reader or printer spreads).

Submitting Files? Follow These PDF & Variable Data Rules:

Submitting a High-Res PDF? – Use PDF/X-1a (not PDF/X or others).

No variable data in PDFs – Only use PDFs for static jobs

Variable data jobs? Use InDesign (Word is okay if InDesign isn’t available)

Lettercopy Files – Again, send in InDesign when possible. If not viable then use Word. Avoid PDFs unless they’re saved as PDF/X-1a.

Colour & Resolution

  • Resolution must be 300 DPI Anything less may print blurry

  • If it looks dark on screen, it will remain dark when printed – Lighten before sending

  • CMYK jobs? Convert all PMS colours to CMYK

  • PMS-only jobs? – Convert CMYK to PMS
